SCHOOL SCHEDULING NOTES
Wednesday, January 18, 2017 - We will have our monthly two-hour delayed start. All classes will begin two hours later than regularly scheduled and all buses will be arriving at their regular stop two hours later than regularly scheduled. This does not affect Career Center students, nor does it affect Little Warriors programming.

SAT Test Prep Sessions Scheduled for January 28, 2017
For our students preparing to take the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) in the future, Sylvan Learning Centers will be providing a test preparation session at Grass Lake High School on Saturday, January 28, from 8 AM to 1 PM. Driver Education Classes Begin January 17
ABC Training and Testing will be offering Segment I driver education classes at Grass Lake High School beginning January 17, and Segment II driver education classes beginning March 7. Go to http://bit.ly/2hfxJFE for a printable flyer with more information, or go to www.abctrainingandtesting.com.

It is important that students pre-register by calling the ABC office or by mailing in your enrollment forms.


Gate Access To Grass Lake High School To Be Limited
Effective Monday, January 9, 2017, the gate at the high school that separates the parking lots from the bus drive will be closed every school day from 7:20 AM until 4:00 PM. All visitors to the high school will need to use the Warrior Trail entrance at that time.
Jackson Area Career Center Open House February, 23, 2017
The Jackson Area Career Center invites families to it open house that will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at its facilities located at 6800 Browns Lake Road, across the road from Jackson College. ​The Jackson Area Career Center provides exceptional career and technical education to high school juniors and seniors throughout Jackson County in 23 programs. GLHS Forensics Team Continues Success
Congratulations to our Grass Lake High School Forensics team who competed at Anchor Bay High School this past weekend. While only a little over half of the team competed, they placed 2nd overall in the large team category. Everyone, minus one, placed in the top six in their events.

Jackie Corey - 3rd in Poetry Interpretation
Connor Grimm - 3rd in Prose Interpretation
Morgan Bell - 3rd in Prose Interpretation
D'Quoray Berry/Shaun Burk - 4th in Duo Interpretation
Solomon Anderson - 4th in Dramatic Interpretation
Elle Durkee - 4th in Storytelling
Phoebe Miller - 5th in Extemporaneous Speaking
Joe Camilleri/Sean Cottrell - 5th in Duo Interpretation
Samantha Richardson - 6th in Dramatic Interpretation
Hanna Romanowski - Honorable Mention in Poetry
The team's next tournament is December 3rd. Go Warriors!
Mrs. Hoppe Wins Education Award
Congratulations to Grass Lake High School Science Teacher Stephanie Hoppe for being chosen to receive the Michigan Lottery's "Excellence in Education" Award, which recognizes outstanding Michigan educators for their willingness to go “above and beyond” to make a difference in the lives of children.

To win this award Mrs. Hoppe was evaluated on Excellence, Dedication, Inspiration, Leadership, and Effectiveness. There is one winner chosen each week of the school year. For being selected Mrs. Hoppe will be presented with a $500 cash prize, a $500 grant, a plaque, and she will be featured in a news segment on WXYZ-TV in Detroit, FOX 17 in Grand Rapids and FOX 47 in Lansing. Well done Mrs. Hoppe! We are proud of you and we are fortunate to have you on our staff.
